  • Deb resides in Okato, where she is deeply ingrained in the day to day lifestyles of many of our clients. With a particular specialization in farming, Deb brings invaluable hands-on expertise to the table.

    Before becoming partner at M&L, Deb was the manager of her own family dairy farm in Coastal Taranaki, for over a decade.

    Deb's experience, practical insights and modern approaches significantly benefit our clients in the Dairy and Agri sectors. Her financial prowess extends across diverse industries, thanks to her previous roles supporting businesses with day-to-day financial administration.

    Deb's commitment to community leadership is evident through her role on the Board of Trustees for Coastal Taranaki School, where she was also previously the board chair for 6 years.

    Along with raising her three boys, she also leads a weekly gym class in Rahotu in her spare time.

    Deb brings a Coastal Taranaki presence to M&L with her splitting her time between M&L HQ in the New Plymouth CBD and working from home in the Okato/Coastal area, popping in to see clients along the way.

  • Matt Landrigan, the youngest partner at M&L, is a specialist in tax advice and entity structuring.

    Matt brings a fresh perspective to the practice, especially beneficial for new and emerging businesses that can tap into his expertise. His adeptness in agricultural and larger businesses adds a new dimension to our clients offerings.

    Matt's insights have proven invaluable for clients seeking innovative solutions in a rapidly evolving business landscape.

    Before joining M&L, Matt spent five years with BDO Taranaki, before landing coveted roles in corporate accounting and taxation roles with Centuria NZ (formerly Augusta Property Group) and energy giant FirstGas Group.

    Matt went to New Plymouth Boys' High School and then earned his degree in Commerce and Administration, majoring in Accounting, Commercial Law and Marketing at Victoria University.

    Matt and wife Roya have two small children, Aflie and Ada, who keep both Mum and Dad busy. Matt is also a keen sports fan and is currently working his way around the region’s pubs, ensuring he is doing his part to support our local hospitality industry.

  • Patrick Landrigan is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years of experience in public practice chartered accountancy. As an additional string to his bow, he is also a qualified Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court New Zealand (non-practicing).

    Patrick is Taranaki born and bred and attended New Plymouth Boys’ High School. He graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (Accounting) degree.

    He went on to join international accounting firm PwC for 5 years in their Private Client Services team, followed by a further 3 years as a Manager with KPMG in Wellington in their Private Enterprise Team.

    Patrick returned home to Taranaki in 2014 to work alongside his father, Kevin, in public practice at BDO Taranaki, and in 2021 Murphy & Landrigan (once a family firm founded by Patrick’s grandfather John Murphy) was born under Patrick’s leadership.

    Outside of the professional realm, Patrick is an avid horse enthusiast, co-owning a 30-acre horse farm in Brixton, Taranaki. His extensive experience in managing this secondary business endeavour is a wealth of knowledge that he generously imparts to our clients.

    Patrick's personal commitments alse extends to the arts, having dedicated 13 years as the Sales and Marketing Manager for the New Plymouth Operatic Society.

  • Taher is a highly experienced chartered accountant who supports all forms of businesses - from commercial and corporate, to investors, rural and agricultural businesses.

    Taher previously worked for close to two decades at BDO Taranaki, where he was also the head of Quality Assurance and Review (QA) and Compliance Officer.

    Taher has deep experience and expertise in international taxation – both for New Zealand tax residents living overseas, and overseas tax residents living in New Zealand. His interests also extend into the financial world where he keeps a keen eye on share investments and property investment. Taher's rich cultural background and financial expertise contribute to the diverse tapestry of our firm's leadership.

    Taher was born in Hyderabad, India, completed a Master’s Degree in Commerce and Accounting from Osmania University in India, and moved to Taranaki in early 2001.

    In 2024, Taher along with his wife Asra, and their children Sara and Zayed relocated to Perth, Australia, where Tahar remains an integral part of the M&L team - albeit from a slightly warmer climate!

Ankita Redkar

  • With 9.5 years of experience in the accounting industry—2 years in India and 7.5 years in New Zealand—Ankita brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. Her career highlights include working in Statutory Audit with Deloitte in India and managing commercial clients and investment portfolios in New Zealand.

    Ankita’s favorite part of her work is partnering with clients to help grow their businesses, simplify their finances, and add meaningful value.

    Originally from Mumbai, India, Ankita has called Taranaki home for the past five years. She loves the region for its family-friendly atmosphere, lively community, and peaceful escape from big-city life.

    Ankita lives with her husband Sai, a mortgage advisor, and their four-year-old daughter Myra. Outside of work, she enjoys singing, reading, traveling, and Indian classical music.

Kristen Hughes

  • Kristen has spent over 22 years in the accounting industry, building strong, long-lasting relationships with her clients. She loves getting to know her clients and their businesses inside and out, helping them make the most of their software and driving efficiency. A career highlight has been working alongside her mentor Kevin Landrigan, from whom she has absorbed as much of his knowledge as possible.

    Originally from the Wairarapa, Kristen moved to Taranaki in 2002 after studying in the Manawatu and has loved raising her family here ever since. She enjoys everything Taranaki has to offer, from beautiful beaches to summer days spent at Pukekura Park.

    At home, Kristen stays busy with her four daughters Karli, Millie, Mia and Eva, her husband Brendan and a small zoo of pets. The family’s three dogs—Darci the Samoyed, Comet the Bearded Collie, and their old Shih Tzu, Twistie—are show stars, with Darci and Comet even qualifying for Puppy of the Year, to be held in Auckland early 2025. They also have two Ragdoll cats, three bunnies (including one rescued wild rabbit), and a handful of birds to complete their lively household.

    In her spare time, Kristen volunteers as Treasurer for several clubs, including dog clubs and the Spotswood Volleyball Club, where she’s been Treasurer for over 15 years.

  • With 17 years of experience in the accounting industry, Annette brings huge of knowledge and expertise to the team. A Chartered Accountant, she takes pride in mentoring younger team members, helping them grow and succeed in their careers.

    Annette's favorite part of working with clients is building trusted relationships and being part of their journey—celebrating the highs and navigating the lows together.

    Originally from Auckland, Annette has called Taranaki home for the past year and a half. She loves the region’s great weather, beautiful beaches, and—most importantly—the lack of traffic!

    Having lived in Taranaki all her life, Marion appreciates the region's natural beauty, especially the tramping trails and beach activities. Marion and her husband also have three grown children.

  • As our resident DJ, and the newest Grandfather on the team, Brendon brings a warm and approachable nature to the M&L office.

    Before beginning in the acounting industry 17 years ago, Brendon was a butcher in New Plymouth, with skills he still keeps up his sleeve for the BBQ at home.

    Brendon’s love of accounting has grown from getting a good grasp and understanding of our clients and their businesses, and getting them a favourable tax result. For Brendon, creating a great relationship with his clients is his number one goal.

    Brendon and his wife Sandra are the proud parents of Kaitlin and William, and are overjoyed to have recently welcomed their first grandchild Ollie, into the family.

    Emily is an avid lover of all things Taylor Swift, her cat Lenny and the New Plymouth Hospitality industry, where she helps out working at Snug Lounge from time to time.

Peter Brown

  • Peter Brown (or 'Pedro' as he is affectionately known as in the office) is a dedicated professional in the accounting field, since 1999.

    His journey began with a solid foundation at IR, where he worked from 1982 to 1989. Afterward, Peter embarked on a two-year overseas experience in London, gaining invaluable international exposure. Upon returning, he explored various jobs before earning a business diploma from WITT, which led to his first official accounting position.

    Throughout his career, Peter has prioritized building and maintaining strong client relationships. Many of his current clients have been with him for over 20 years, and he takes pride in witnessing their growth and continued success, knowing he has played a small part in their journey.

    Peter was born and raised in New Plymouth. For him, one of the highlights of living here is the breathtaking view of both the mountain and the sea from his house, with the added bonus of being able to visit both within an hour.

    Peter is married to Angela, and they have two children - 18 year old daughter, Lucy, and their 22 year old son, Marcus.

    A passionate sports enthusiast, Peter enjoys watching rugby, cricket, league, and golf. He played cricket himself until 2023 and now finds it much easier to enjoy as a spectator.

Leisa Patel

    Originally from Stratford, Leisa moved to New Plymouth as a teen and later spent time overseas and in Auckland before returning to settle in Taranaki with her family. She loves the region’s stunning coastline, mountain trails, and the vibrant lifestyle it offers.
